Spoke No. 4: Equipment and the fitting process.
It’s been enlightening as a clubfitter to learn how equipment affects motion. A very high percentage of players in the game today, not only at the club level but on the professional level as well, use poorly-fitted equipment that causes compensating movements and does not allow the player to be balanced. It’s my goal when fitting somebody into a set of clubs to make the club what I call a “zero” – in other words, a neutral device – that doesn’t interfere in any way with the motion of the golf swing, that gets out of the way and allows the motion to be uninterrupted and pure.
