PART III:  Check Positions with a Mirror

Continued from blog entry – “The New Season . . . PART II”

.
top croppedOne of the simplest yet most valuable training aids for the golfer is a mirror.

  • Watching yourself make a full swing in front of a mirror can be a little dicey, although it can be done. But a mirror’s chief value is it lets you see the static positions. You can check your grip, posture, ball position, shaft angle at address and at the top of your swing (as I’m doing here), the squareness of your clubface at address and at the top, your finish position and whatever else you want to look at.
    .
  • Check your positions visually so you can identify them by feel on the golf course. Seeing your drills and positions in a mirror while you feel them happening is a great way to get to know and understand your golf motion.

A full-length mirror that goes to the floor is ideal, but if you don’t have that, find the largest mirror in your house and practice in front of it.
