A golfer’s guide to the course (Part 1)

The Quarry is a fun golf course that, for the most part, allows you to swing at the driver. However, it does have teeth. So much will depend on course setup and wind conditions. Below is a hole-by-hole account of the Quarry.
.
NO. 1: 341 YARDS, PAR 4
The opening hole is one that appears easy. The fairway is generous, but an aggressive play can lead to a sharp bite in the backside. A sensible layup to take the fairway bunkers out of play will lead to a short iron second shot. No reason to try to over-power this little guy. Water left, so wait patiently for the knucklehead play. The smart player will have a real look at birdie here.
NO. 2: 210 YARDS, PAR 3
A beautiful par 3. Stone Lake borders the entire left side. Bunkers short left and long right guard a rather large, gently rolling putting surface. Wind can be an issue here. Because of the green depth, club selection is very important.
NO. 3: 556 YARDS, PAR 5
The first par 5, but proceed with caution. This hole can be had, but not without a bit of study. Although the driving area is large, the fairway bunkers right are NOT friendly, and Stone Lake left
is staring you down. The fairway definitely pinches in the longer you try to drive it. The hole bends to the right for your second shot, and bunkers blind you from a clean look at the putting surface.
A finger of Stone Lake creeps very quietly in greenside left, and can sneak up quickly on the wayward second shot hunting for eagle. This hole will provide some heroic 3s and 4s, and some heartbreaking 7s.
