Rising LPGA star Francella tries to keep the momentum after her stunning first victory (Part 4)

“I’m more about quality than quantity,” says Francella, whose routine begins on the practice green and continues to the short-game area, then concludes with 60 to 90 minutes at the range. “I don’t like to hit balls for five hours. If I’m hitting it good, why am I going to keep going until I’m hitting it bad? I think that’s stupid. “A lot of people feel they have to hit a lot of balls. If you’re going to do that, why not do some rehearsals in between so you work on stuff, and each shot is quality.”
Francella’s key pre-tournament routine is, during practice rounds, to hit chips from the area where she’s most likely to miss the green. “If there’s a hazard right, you’ll tend to miss the green left, so that’s where I’ll chip from,” she says. “I’ll just work on those until I feel good about it.”
