The chipping motion is primarily an arms and shoulders movement, but the wrists hinge naturally (1) due to the light grip pressure combined with the weight of the clubhead.
The angles created in the backswing are a flat left wrist and a bent right wrist. For the most crisp chip shots, these angles should be maintained through impact (2).
A terrific thought to help you is, “Hinge and hold.” Concentrating on this thought should help prevent your left wrist from breaking down, which would cause you to blade the chip shot.
