Part 4, Concusion
Continued from blog entry – “SPLASH IT OUT (Part 3)”
.
If you’re not familiar with the proper sensation of splashing the sand, practice without hitting balls. Stand in a bunker for 15 or 20 minutes and just take swings. Be sure to ALWAYS splash the sand. Fiddle around with the clulbface angle, and the length and pace of your swing. After each shot, look down at the divot. Is it the size you wanted? Look at the green. Did you splash any sand onto it? Did you feel the club glide through the sand?
The goal here is to develop a feel for the sensation you want to have when playing out of a bunker. Once you’ve learned what it feels like to hit good bunker shots, you’ll never be afraid again. Then, when you see your ball fly into a bunker, you’ll smile. No problem. You know you’re going to splash it out.
