Hi Tom – Guess what?  I just won the Club Championship at Canterbury Golf Club!  Who would have thought?  I didn’t play particularly well — definitely not my best round this summer, but played well enough.  You weren’t there with me, but believe me, you WERE there!  When my heart was pounding wildly, I really did try to think about what Tom would tell me.

And what I kept hearing was set-up and timing.  And “poor, perfect, or playable” — which helped keep me in the game.  When I had a bad shot, I didn’t think about total recovery, just what shot would keep me in the hole.  I tried to think not about just hitting the ball, but playing the game — all things you have driven into my head over the years.

So, thanks!  All those years of lessons and lectures, along with a lot of laughs (and a few tears) contributed to a beautiful bouquet of roses and a BIG, shiny trophy.
