Wow! What a golf season we just witnessed. All of you who are old enough (yes I’m about to date myself) surely remember The Big Three. Palmer, Player, and some guy called Nicklaus! That was an exciting time for golf. Arnie burst upon the seen and TV was there to capture his swash buckling antics! He was (and is) The King!  Then along came The Dark Knight and then Fat Jack. It became the perfect hero villain type set up for a short while. Ultimately the golfing public grew to love all three. Exciting golf, tremendous talents, golf was on the rise!

We have gone through several generations of genius in our golf lifetime. After the Big Three we also had epic battles with the likes of Weiskopf, Miller and certainly Watson all versus Nicklaus. Let’s not forget Seve in there.

Then along came a young phenom named Tiger Woods. He knocked us back on our heels. We surely had never seen anything exactly like Woods in his prime. We witnessed his massacres of the fields he destroyed. He won majors by double digits. He hit shots over, across, and around obstacles like he had the ball on a string! It was astounding. He made golf a game of the masses. Even if you never played a single shot in your life and unless you lived in a cave you knew who Tiger was. No need to add Woods just say Tiger and the world around you knew of whom you spoke!

We never thought there would be life after Tiger. We all held onto him so tightly. Through divorce, through injury, we gasped hoping for the one last run, it hasn’t come ….We thought golf was over no Tiger, no fanfare, no bells and whistles. We were wrong, so very wrong.

Again wow! What a year in golf. What an incredible line up of young awesome, exciting talent. Everyone allow me to introduce you not to The Big Three, but to The Big Four! Spieth, Day, Fowler, and McIlroy!  These guys bomb it like Woods, hit recovery shots like Seve, wedge it like Kite, and putt like (pardon me) Jesus!

They have the nerves of Nicklaus. All that said you know the greatest thing they bring to the show? They are each so very likable. In this group there are no villains. These four golf superstars are each in their own right the next coming.

We are so very lucky that because of their youth we will be blessed to be able to watch awesome awesome world class golf for the next 20 years. And guess what, there is a ton of talent just behind these four nipping at their collective heels!! Wow I’m so excited for the years ahead.
